Rider Achievements 2006
Sue Palmer-Komar at the World's
Sue placed 75th in the RR s.t. as Anne Samplonius. 5.55 down on winner. Top placed Cdn at 23rd Alex Wrubleski 2.07 down. Sue decided not to do the TT HCC out in force at Provincial TTCEleven of our riders competed at the Provincial TTC in the Peninsula garnering one 1st, two silvers and one bronze. I am pretty sure there are some personal bests in there Vince, Marie Clare and Naomi. Naomi's 101:40 takes our club record for a 40km TT in the Women's category - a record held since 1983 by Patsy Kammerer. Congratulations Naomi!
Garth Logan takes the HogbenGarth knocked almost a minute off his '05 Hogben to win Gus Hogben's trophy. Associate Heather Davidson-Meyn took 2nd with a 1:01:33. This is a tougher course than the Nella with a number of grades to overcome. Mike Hruska takes the Hill ClimbMike did a blazing 3:56 to take 1st place against some stiff competition from Elite Health (Pieriks) See Race Results for everyone's' times. Mike ya gotta get a nice red jersey - everyone is wearing yellow! Mike Hruska takes Provincial Crit!Mike took 1st place Cadets at the Provincial Champion Crit in Amherstburg. Great Year!
Good Turn Out at Provincial RR Aug 6thVince DeJong took 1st place in the Juniors and Zack Morris 3rd (ST). Mike Hruska captured 2nd in the Cadet race. Nada Pasko and Naomi Cermak finished same time taking 10th & 11th respectively in the Womens Elite (3rd & 4th Senior 3's). Rob Cheskey was 10th Master C and Peter Morris 3rd and Peter Hein 4th Master D. Matt King riding as a Mens' Elite came in 37th. Congratulations! The NationalsLooks like our best placed rider was Peter Hein Master D in 6th place in the RR followed by Peter Morris in 9th. In the C's there is a Rob Cheskey riding for Espoir de Laval (!!??) who placed 12th. Garth Logan placed 14th in the "A"s. Both our Women entrants were in the war zone. Sue Palmer went to the race with Drs orders not to race but placed 14th in the RR. Naomi Cermak had a good TT (don't have her time yet Cdn Cyclist reports are sporadic this time) but had to pull out of the RR due to a mechanical and had a bad crash in the RR and had to go to hospital (recovering at home now) Weather particularly for the Women was abysmal added to a technical and cobbled course. We note sometime member Charlie Bryer placed 4th in the Juniors.
