the mainstay of bicycle riding in Hamilton

Active in Halton, New Hamilton & Brant County!

Goose Be Gone!

I recently rode the 7km bike race put on by Liberty Bikes in St. Catharine's. Last time I rode it I was attacked by a goose while in 1st. I hoped to do better this time and as a matter of fact I actually came in 1st. A few weeks later I went to Hardwood Hills and came in 1st for my age. I hope to make the final podium in the 8x12.

Bikes, Accessories & Clothing for Cuba!

    Penman1.JPG (59896 bytes)    penman2.JPG (69802 bytes)    penman3.JPG (52729 bytes)

Martin Reid works closely with Peter Marshall of St Catherines and Peter Penman in Las Tunas, Cuba to get bikes, equipment and clothing to budding young riders in Cuba. There are essentially no bike stores in Cuba and the cost of all the foregoing is well beyond the means of most in Cuba. Yet the sport is popular with high end events like the Vuelta de Cuba (won by Canadian rider in '07) and facilities such as an Olympic standard track near Havana. If you have a bike or pedals or wheels, tires in decent shape or jerseys or shoes in like condition that you would like to donate contact Martin Reid our racing secretary and he will arrange with Peter Marshall to get it to Cuba. Martin's 1985 Gios upgraded with newer Campy Grupo was in the Junior Nationals in '07 and its rider is on the short list for the National Junior team this year. Tim Farrar and friends virtually outfitted an entire team.  Likewise David Smith of Houston Texas. If you are donating a bike we will try to follow its Cuban history for you!
