Members' FORUM

We had originally planned to use our software to set up a forum within the web site however the software was giving us problems keeping the forum password protected. So we have set up our Forum using an outside service. The service is free but comes with some advertising. If it proves too obnoxious then (up to you folks) it might need to be scrapped or we can upgrade to a service the club would have to pay for. It will all be a combination of how popular the forum proves versus how obnoxious the ads are!

To join the forum you presently have to be a club member (full or associate). email your webmaster (Martin Reid) for the global password. Anyone can view the forum but the password is required to post. To enter just click the My Forum button.

For those not familiar with Forums someone starts a discussion on a topic of choice (bike related please!) and others read the message and chip in by replying. This forms a thread. The main page will contain the original message. By clicking on it you go to the thread and read through the various messages there and optionally add your comments/reply/rebuttal etc.

You can choose to see the format in threaded display or board display. The former lists all messages with the threaded messages under the original message - the latter is two level initially displaying the original messages and disclosing the number of messages in each particular thread. You choose format.

Use the Forum to discuss topics such as merits of different bikes, components, riding techniques, events, training etc or simply use it to look for others to join a ride.

Do NOT use the forum to flame fellow members, or discuss your sex life or that of the tsetse fly! !

ENJOY!
